I think the 3d chess move is to have Joe resign now, install Kamala as president. Then run a campaign for a couple months that is “see, she isn’t that bad.”

Her job would be to do as little as possible.  Basically stay in the basement part 2.  Then the campaign can spin it as “doing the job the people need.”

the Dems can win that way.

I doubt Biden will go along. Arrogant ass.

Reminds me of the end of the movie “The Hunt For Red October”

In order to sink his adversary, the Soviet sub captain turn off all safeties on his torpedoes.

Ramius outsmarts him and causes his own torpedo to kill him.

His subordinate says “you arrogant ass, you killed us!”

This is all on Biden and his inner circle. Taking all the risk on this while they KNEW he couldn’t be up to it.  Playing the U.S. public.

kamala as the candidate will be interesting.  And, if she’s not, the Dems can hardly be the champions of democracy they have been crowing about for the past years.

    arrogant asses

You guys are funny. Debating the politics of a killer vs wondering how he easily subverted a billion dollar security apparatus.

who cares if he was a disgruntled Republican or Democrat?  How was he able to do what he did? An innocent person is dead and three other innocents are injured.

There should be a first to report rule for Atlanta.  Nobody can report votes until Atlanta has reported.  I bet Georgia would be solidly red then.

The news services were probably a tad conservative given it was all right there on video from the moment it happened.  the hesitance to call it an assassination attempt was particularly odd.

Trump lives under a lucky star.  I am very familiar with that 5.56 round the AR 15 primarily fires, and can assure you that even a grazing hit to his skull, just a half inch or so from his pierced upper ear, would have carved out a lot of skull with it.

One of my favorite quotes is from Benjamin Franklin (I thought it was TJ but looked it up) when asked at the constitutional convention what form of government the U.S. has.  His response:

”A republic, if you can keep it.”

That quote can be read into as acknowledging the massive challenge of maintaining a government founded on the rational apportionment of power.

Our politics turned government into a game of who gets the money. The thing is, that happened many many decades ago. I don’t see a way to halt the momentum outside of revolution, which other than the founders has never worked.

It’s not exactly provocative to say that democracy will fail. It never has survived for long.

That’s the reason the national government was established as a republic.  But the people are catching on that they can still vote themselves largess.  That’s, of course, the end of any democracy:  When the majority votes for the goods of the minority.

I have no interest in talking to the IRS, but this brings up a conversation I had earlier today with a client of ours.  He was lamenting some poor manufacturing performance with a lot of it attributable to poor labor productivity and turnover.

We discussed that the whole “COVID hangover” has really been a “COVID re-set” to the values and motivations of the work force.  This is in the private sector, mind you.  The work force has become less effective and more entitled than possibly ever.

If that’s in the private sector, I can’t even begin to imagine how the government is doing.

They are going to eat her up.  She might as well have said “yeah, they are ugly, but they deserve respect.”  Even if she’s right, she’s wrong.

The WNBA is a disgrace. Born on third base and think they hit a triple.

Imagine a world where a local community elects a prosecutor that won’t prosecute certain crimes due to politics. You know, crimes like, say, lynching.

You might want the governor to have some power to stand on the side of justice in such a case.

I’m betting that this “fascism” is a vestige of reconstruction. And it isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  Why is it that our population has become so ignorant of the downsides of direct democracy?

Democracy is three wolves and a sheep deciding what’s for dinner.

There has to be mechanisms for protection of minority rights, whether the minority is a disenfranchised but newly freed slave or a white kid who deserves not to be assaulted at the local convenience store.

Did anybody see the vids of Biden at G7?
