It’s a funny reflection. I don’t think anybody really thought Kamala was a viable candidate even just 3 weeks ago. Nobody was prepared for this, Democrats.

It would be a stunning rise and fall for Vance if he were to “resign” because of the badgering over a few stupid comments 3+ years ago. I’m actually stunned more by the media’s ability to turn “cat ladies” into an everywoman offense vs. just a cat woman offense. Trump was never going to win the cat ladies.
That said, I think Trump screwed up by not picking Haley as VP nom. In the hardcore Trumper circles Haley is viewed as disloyal and in the pockets of the neocons. I think that’s way too politically naive.

A friend who is a PhD scientist and businessman had to visit a smaller city in France about 7 years ago on business. He was out in the evening and was approached by a group of middle eastern youths. One of them knifed him in the face without warning. Truly maimed him. Awful story.

It’s a bit like the comedian bill burr’s bit on white women and activism. For some reason, white women are in a different category than white men when it comes to offenses of racial iniquity even though they have ridden right along with white men. Why? Unclear.

I think the identity part of Kamala is almost offensive to the intent of identity politics. Her “blackness” is from a slaveowning family in Jamaica, and her Indo-Asian-ness is from an elite Indian caste. Now, I’m not judging, but some folks will say “wait just a minute” on this when they learn more.
I think the most squirrely portion of the electorate will be white women. Kamala plays well to white women because, well, she ain’t black as Joe would say. She’s the Coke Zero of blackness.
This last few days has been one of the most fascinating displays of how the mass media can be steered on a dime to a new narrative. Kamala is suddenly an Obama-level savior. It’s amazing and it will fade. Her politics have something for everybody to hate.
