rjnwmillParticipant“Why did it take so frickin` long?”
Right you are Rocky. That is the question before the house.
Orange has had a tough 10 days. The rioting had him in control of the narrative. This has shifted dramatically.
In all honesty Rocky, my concern can be stated simply, Too little too late? I honestly don’t know.
In the last 10 days I haven’t seen Biden challenged over his direct denial of payments from Russian oligarchs to his son that Biden denied unequivocally at the debate. Have you? The precise content presented to VP Biden about the conflict of interest with his son’s activities? The China VC investments? The personal spending that was underwritten by foreign nationals?
At this point, I’m not at all sure that direct documentary evidence of Biden’s complicity in efforts to undermine the nascent Orange administration could result in control of the news cycle. Or move the polls.
I hope my concerns are unfounded. It’s now or never to retire an old bent politician.

rjnwmillParticipantMy gut tells me there has to be a Republican partisan or two in the CIA? They wouldn’t expose Haspel? Provide access to documents?
Maybe not.

rjnwmillParticipantI think/hope Trafalgar is the gold standard. Two down nationally means Orange wins.
Although I was sorry to see Biden in Florida today. Rocky, I thought with you in the state it was Orange all the way. What the hell is going on down there?

rjnwmillParticipantRocky, I’m not at all certain that I like these anonymous sources any better than the Atlantic’s. If you think Haspel is dirty, use the whistle blower statutes. The fool behind the Ukraine call hoax is still employed, no?
Further, wasn’t there a furor when Orange granted Barr declassification authority? Why wouldn’t Barr have the pedal to the floor board? He can read the tea leaves as to terminating the effort post election. And why would the senior Durham associate have resigned two weeks ago? The popular narrative is that she didn’t want a pre election report. So where is that document?
Enough of the excuses. Orange knows how to bust heads. He promised to drain the swamp. Isn’t now a good time to make good on those promises?

rjnwmillParticipantJoe says he’s living large and safely because he’s spent 47 years in public service making certain blacks/women/union workers would be obligated to serve his personal interests…if they want food on the family table. Doesn’t that bring us back to the high risk working conditions that OSHA was to address? Mining? Meat packing? Construction trades?
Is that the lesson learned around the Scranton kitchen table? Did he pass those values on to Hunter? Come on man!

rjnwmillParticipantI find it irritating that news/polling that is commissioned by media interests has been tainted by the sponsor’s bias. It seems clear to me now that election cycle “polling” is used as a tool to achieve voter suppression objectives.
Who can you believe…Biden…Trump…guys driven by self interest? Guys shopping for money? Perhaps politicians believe doner ignorance is bliss?

rjnwmillParticipant“A senate candidate dies”…you have to be patient and wait and hope the crooks at the FBI get around to questioning Hillary Clinton under oath.

rjnwmillParticipantI saw an interview with Chris Wallace. He stated that Trump started the interruptions during Biden’s second answer.
Without “going to the video tape” I’ll take Fleisher’s opinion as correct. That suggests that Wallace goes with his confirmation bias without bothering to check. Frankly, I had hoped for better from him. His personal opinions may have colored his approach to his role and responsibility.

rjnwmillParticipantI’ve talked to enough people who have worked with/for Orange. My sense is what you see is what you get. He is a tough guy to accept as a boss or as a negotiating partner…personally.
However, since it is the citizens who are currently making a hiring decision, I’m more comfortable with an alternative frame of reference, Orange is hired help. Don’t confuse effort with results.
Trump is the only one that has a record of accomplishment. The Middle East. Middle class income. Unemployment. China policy. USMCA. Isn’t that “endearing”? He has the resume so he has to be the hire, no?

rjnwmillParticipantI heard an interesting opinion from a talking head.
Orange won because this is a base election. Trump fed his base all night. Biden was forced/obligated to walk away from the Sanders/Warren/AOC wing of the Democratic Party. “I am the party.” Watered down Green Deal. No single payer health care. No defund the police. Tonight, did Orange successfully suppress democratic turnout?
I hadn’t looked at it that way. To me, it is the only way to rationalize a Trump win in tonight’s theatre.

rjnwmillParticipantThere is another metric one might choose in matters like this.
Of course democrats consider the best measure of character to be the amount of money you push to the government for “investment”. Some might prefer looking at the share of income that one donates to charity. Orange has been in DC for almost four years. He has donated 100% of his salary to charity. I imagine that in his 47 years, Joe has never contributed a years salary to charity.
The LA Times reports the Bidens have annually donated a smaller percentage of their income to charity, 2016-2018, than many here. Years where their income has been in the millions:
“In 2016, the Bidens gave 1.5% of their income to charity; in 2017, they gave 9.2% and in 2018, they donated 6%.
Sizeable chunks of their donations went to nonprofits named for the Bidens. Of the $1 million the Bidens donated to charity in 2017, $100,000 went to the Joseph Biden Foundation Community Legal Aid Society Inc., and $150,000 went to the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children, an organization named for Biden’s son, who died of brain cancer in 2015. An additional $55,000 went to Biden-related charities in 2018.”
I’m not belittling the good work of Biden charities…in fact I consider it a better measure of one’s commitment to the public good than the payment of taxes. But Biden’s contributions prior to 2008 could fairly be construed as parsimonious:
“Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden and his wife gave an average of $369 a year to charity during the past decade, his tax records show.” ABC News September 2008
