    Addendum:

A Very Brief History of LGBTQ Parenting

A brief history of LGBTQ adoption. Over the course of 50 years social science has determined that the sexual orientation of parents does not negatively impact the environment for the raising of kids.

Now they argue religion impacts that environment negatively?  WTF. Our leaders have us? THE STATE hip deep in the genital mutilation business.

Is it appropriate to assert that “this is not who we are”?  To ask who is driving this change?

I suppose it’s not surprising that Foreign Affairs would speak positively about the role of global/national bureaucratic structures. That such structures would be core to their discussion of the energy market. That their focus would be on global “challenges” not national possibilities. That they would predicate their analysis on “climate science”.

However, if you look at Ukraine, global migration, fentanyl trafficking, Taiwan, Chinese exploitation of political bankruptcy in Africa, nuclear proliferation, bio weapons research, inflation, quantitative easing and failing financial regulatory schemes, might one conclude that a reliance on global bureaucracy might be I’ll conceived?

Another observation in an effort to solicit feedback from those smarter than I. OPEC’s weekend policy shift is clearly inflationary. Yet today the 2 year bond yield declines by 9 basis points.

Bank balance sheets are perhaps more impaired than the administration is acknowledging?  Is the Fed capitulating on the shrinking of the balance sheet?  When will we be forced to pay the piper?

It’s fascinating that futures prices peak in June of 2023. That’s as the demand from driving season heads towards a seasonal peak.

I don’t know where supply will be expanded in the near term as the SPR is off the table and industry capital projects are long lead items.

Accountability is a bitch…for the administration and for the Fed. Someone will be messing with our traditional measures of inflation. 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

I think we’re largely in agreement. It’s why I put cheat, fraud etc in quotes. The model employed by democrats was “legal” but the effort diluted the votes from serious citizens.

My point is that no Republican candidates have presented a coherent plan to counter the Democrats strategies…other than Trump. And his comments are imprecise about competing for the mythical mail in voters.

For Trump, I think this means a willingness to “cheat”.  What a shame. The 2024 election will go to the candidate who can create the most questionable votes.

    Mick:

Trump is fundamentally polarizing and unelectable, however much his ideas make sense. But DeSantis (or Haley, or Pence, or Youngkin, or Ramaswamy, or Cheney, or Noem, or…) doesn’t have the right mix. I don’t see any of them rising to the fore and beating the cadaver-like Biden, whose list of policy failures are arresting:”

Mick, I fundamentally disagree with your premise. Electability is driven by the willingness and ability to game the system. Democrats have proven to be much more nimble and willing to “cheat” with ballot harvesting, selective investments in local infrastructure to drive democrat participation, the distribution of millions of ballots and the dismantling of basic voter ID provisions.

I don’t think Trump is unelectable. Instead, he perhaps may be the most electable. To my knowledge he is the only Republican candidate regularly addressing the topic of election “cheating” and the need to beat democrats at the game.

Do I approve of disenfranchising purposeful voters through “fraud”; hell no. But that’s where we are. These capabilities got us Biden with a record number of votes. It got us Fetterman, a totally “unelectable” candidate. And while I don’t know how George Santos won, I question whether he could have run a sophisticated ballot distribution and harvesting operation, he should not have survived a minimal opposition research effort.

The strategy to “win” elections is coming out of the shadows. Do you think there is any Republican other than Trump capable of competing in this arena?  After all republicans stuck with Romney’s niece…the under performer from 2018, 2020 & 2022. Yea, let’s stick with a three time loser.

I too would be okay with DeSantis or Youngkin or perhaps even Haley. But I fear there is significant electability risk, not with intentional voter turn out but with the “new” practices being integrated into voting processes.

    Exhibit 1:

DeSantis is perhaps focused too narrowly?  You’ve got to “cheat” big Ron or go home.

    Perhaps tilting at windmills…perhaps not?

Jenifer Granholm is a lawyer running our energy policy.”

If only that was the full extent of her unfortunate placement. And by the way does she steal luggage as well?

The Secretary of Energy also has our nuclear weapons programs and our national laboratories in the portfolio. Granholm is, as you point out unqualified for the assignment.

I’d suggest that the administration is underperforming as a result of a foolish faux commitment to DEI hiring. Incompetence that checks a box in lieu of merit based hiring. However they’ve made it worse. No diversity of political opinion is included in the leadership group.

An organization that is intended to best serve an electorate that can be described as pluralistic will surely fail if the leadership is comprised exclusively of people whose policy preferences are so myopic. We see the outcomes of this shit for brains approach to governance every damn day.

Beyond the obvious failures of this  leadership model, the stupidity is highlighted by what is seen daily when government failures are contrasted with successes by commercial organizations. The contrast is stunning. Commercial enterprises focus on serving diverse markets, serving individual market segments with carefully targeted messaging. As an example , over the last five years, racial diversity and gender diversity have been integrated into advertising and content decisions.

In contrast, our politics are designed to serve the self interests of the practitioners exclusively. And GR, Trump’s management style and messaging helped to bring this failed model into full relief. He was just as headstrong and self interested, perhaps more so. But he did it cards face up on the table for all to see. After Clinton & Bush & Obama, if we can ever escape this descent, it will in some measure due to his willingness to expose the failing, deceptive governance model.

After receiving a recommendation from the boards of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Federal Reserve, Treasury Secretary Yellen, after consultation with the President, approved actions to enable the FDIC to complete its resolution of Silicon Valley Bank in a manner that fully protects all depositors, both insured and uninsured.”

Bailout indeed. And the article is correct about about obvious implications for the Fed’s battle with inflation.

I understand that roughly 94% of SVB’s deposits exceed the maximum covered by FDC insurance. So who’s really at risk?  Folks practicing poor working capital management?  People who don’t understand duration as a driver for portfolio construction?

Personally, the fundamental topic is moral hazard. As with student loans the only question about eligibility for government largess is who is out in front of the Whitehouse with their tin cup in hand. Who has a handy narrative about their potential impact on the economy/national well being/elected officials.

Let’s not forget we’ve had 15 years to get this right. Regulators have been securing our banking system since 2008 with reflated balance sheets, untold capital infusions and stress tests. And we find ourselves here with advocates suggesting technology is fundamental to our economy. Isn’t this the industry that that was in the forefront of the outsourcing and overseas investment initiatives?

I’m not inclined to buy it. We make questionable technology transfer and capacity investments in China, India and Viet Nam and then tell tax payers to foot the bill. I think not.
