Speaking of news, how did you like the in depth coverage of Space recovery of the two astronauts?  From liftoff to splash down, 24/7 coverage of the recovery.  I really loved the details about Elon Musk working with NASA to put the US Space Program back on track.

I don’t think it is that far fetched.  With a growing number of online courses and degrees, this could be a reasonable alternative to traditional college education.

“I don’t understand how anyone can support a bill that would give Donald Trump the opportunity to fire another 25,000 veterans and take away nursing home spots from tens of thousands of seniors, all so that the Republicans can give $4.7 trillion in giveaways to billionaires and billionaire corporations,” Warren said before the meeting.

Bless her heart, that Liz Warren can sure check all the boxes.

Harris grilling Brett Kavanaugh during Senate Confirmation hearings was almost embarrassing.  Watching her and Mazie Hirono was like watching a couple of Chihuahuas taking on a grizzly bear.
It’s going to be tricky, but it needs to be done. Otherwise, continuing descent into mediocrity.
Tricky is an understatement.  Timing is everything, and I don’t believe Trump will be able to pull it off without tanking the economy in the near term.  There are too many levers to pull with exact timing needed  to balance tariffs, re-shoring manufacturing and reduced government spending and keep the economy moving.

From eliminating everything from grants to programs that actually reduce cost for the consumer, I believe we are in for a bumpy economic ride.

Sure, go all in to against a despot who has a finger on the trigger of the worlds second largest nuclear arsenal.  Makes sense to me…..not.

I see different outcomes than you do. Would Putin go nuclear? The possiblity exists.

If Putin perceives that Ukraine’s advances, combined with Western support, threaten Russia’s control over occupied territories (especially Crimea), he could escalate drastically rather than accept defeat.
A significant loss in Ukraine would weaken his grip on power domestically. Given Russia’s history of leaders being removed after military failures, he may consider extreme measures to prevent regime collapse.
Putin has repeatedly used nuclear threats as a deterrent, signaling that Russia might use tactical nuclear weapons if NATO intervenes directly or if Russia’s territorial integrity (including annexed regions) is at stake.
Russian military doctrine allows for nuclear use in the case of an existential threat to the state. Although Ukraine does not pose a direct threat, Putin could frame a potential defeat as such.

I’d be interested in your thoughts about the latest move to end the war.  Trump has re-arranged the pieces.  Brilliant move or flawed strategy?

She was checking all the boxes.  Corporate oligarchy, Elon Musk, blah blah blah.

So much for the idea Stanford admits deep thinkers.

Me thinks the chart would be more vertical or right leaning if extended to 2025.

This is rich.  I hope the Republican playbook includes rolling out clips of every Democrat in the last twenty years who complained about Republicans threatening to shut down the Federal government.

A fun look back in time…

• President Barack Obama expressed strong opposition to Republican tactics during the 2013 government shutdown, stating that a shutdown would have “a very real economic impact on real people, right away.” He attributed the shutdown to a faction within the Republican Party attempting to undo the results of the election through financial threats.
• House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi referred to the 2013 event as the “Tea Party Shutdown” and described the House Republicans’ actions as those of “legislative arsonists.”
• Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the influence of wealthy donors on the shutdown, stating, “Right now, as we speak, in the House of Representatives there are people who are being threatened that if they vote for a clean CR [continuing resolution to reopen the government] that huge sums of money will be spent against them in the next election.”

During the Biden Administration:

• House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries blamed Republicans for a potential government shutdown, stating that they would “own any harm” resulting from such an event.
• Senator Chris Murphy has been vocal against President Donald Trump’s efforts to overhaul the federal government, urging continuous activism to counter these policies.
• Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the administration’s extensive budget cuts, particularly those led by Elon Musk, highlighting the detrimental impacts on social welfare programs.
• Representative Angie Craig introduced the MCCARTHY Shutdown Act, aiming to withhold congressional pay during shutdowns, as a direct response to Republican tactics.

Just a few examples of Democratic leaders condemning Republican strategies that involve leveraging government shutdowns during budgetary disputes.
I hate to tell you, but the former VP, Kamala Harris, has a deep contact book, name recognition, a mailing list, a deep bench of volunteers and access to cash. She would clear the field in 2026, according to both Newsweek and the LA Times.
I’ll take Things that will never happen for $5oo.

Californians will vote for her as president to keep her the hell out of Dodge.  That deep contact book friend list will not forget what a miserable candidate she is.
