Participant“I’m sitting here with my father”
— drug addicted Hunter Biden on WhatsApp
Well I guess that’s proof that his father really was sitting there.
When was that WhatsApp message sent? Was that when Joe was a private citizen?

ParticipantCornfed, I’ve been reading RJ’s replies going back many years to the original CEB. They always branch out into some off-topic crap. I don’t know if his mind works in mysterious ways or if he’s always just trying to change the subject. But it’s impossible to have a good faith argument with him about any topic.
I don’t have that problem with any other commenter here, whether I agree with them or not. Pardon me for pointing that out. Perhaps you can tell me what Tucker Carlson’s video had to do with whether or not Trump obstructed justice or should be held accountable.

ParticipantOf course the culture around being gay has changed. When I was a kid it was stigmatized terribly. Liberals fought to change those attitudes. I thought we had gotten past that. But we now have the “war on woke”. And it sounds like you’re a true believe in this bs narrative that liberals are groomers.

ParticipantI watched the Tucker video. I can’t stomach that guy and his fake concern-voice, but I humored you. And what’s your point?
His complaint is about an “amorphous moral terror”. Meanwhile his own party is waging a massive culture “war on woke”. The irony of the video: conservatives have been running around passing laws against drag queens, trans, don’t say gay, casting liberals as groomers, etc. Meanwhile he complains about politicians accusing people of things they couldn’t define. And yet none of them can define what “woke” means.
The only thing I got out of that video was that Instagram needs better moderation and that Tucker is a massive hypocrite, unless he’s referring to conservatives, as well. Unlikely.
my conclusion: this has nothing to do with whether Trump is guilty or whether he should have been indicted. It’s another example of the bizarre tangents you go on, changing the subject, every time I have ever engaged with you.

ParticipantOne update on my opinion. I thought Trump would be held accountable. But he got lucky and drew Aileen Cannon as the judge. She’s the MAGA sycophant appointed by him. She has already proven she will do anything to help him, so who knows now. Maybe she can slow play the trial until after the election. Maybe her appointment can somehow be appealed by the prosecution since she’s already proven to be a biased clown. But it does throw a wrench in things.

ParticipantRJ, seriously. You need to stop listening to that Russian stooge, Tucker. Didn’t a bunch of operatives have the laptop? You don’t think we would have seen something damning by now besides a bunch of nude picks of Hunter’s cock?
Ah, yes, the FBI — running cover for Democrats. The latest mantra from conservatives, despite the fact that every single person that has ever run the FBI — going back 100+ years — was appointed by Republicans; despite the fact that the guy running it now was literally appointed by Trump himself; despite the fact that law enforcement folks tend to be conservatives. It really takes some serious mental gymnastics to conclude the FBI is biased towards Democrats and covering for them.

ParticipantAnyone remember this? It’s a 20 second video of Trump in 2016. He says he’s going to enforce all lars [sic] concerning the protection of classified documents.
In 2018 he then signed into law a bill that increased punishments for those who mishandle classified documents.
In the meantime, he lead countless “lock her up” chants. And we had to hear about Hillary’s emails every f*cking day on conservative media for years.
It’s not a double standard. This is the Trump standard. He made this a big deal. You all parroted it for years. And now you don’t like that it’s being enforced. At least have some integrity.
If Hillary or Biden did something this egregious and tried to cover it up, then throw the book at them too. But they’ve been investigated to death by Republicans and so far it’s all a bunch of malarkey.
Here’s the latest one: House Republican Report Finds No Evidence of Wrongdoing by President Biden
After months of investigation and many public accusations of corruption against Mr. Biden and his family, the first report of the premier House G.O.P. inquiry showed no proof of such misconduct.
So many accusations, investigations, and innuendo. But it always turns out to just be a lot of projection. Meanwhile Kushner gets $2 BILLION dollars from the Saudi’s after the Saudi’s bragged they had him in their pockets, but not a f*ckng peep about it. Nope. Just more “Hunter Bidens laptop” BS and Hillary’s emails.

ParticipantIt became a banana republic when we elected Trump. These indictments are pretty damning. If Biden or Obama did anything remotely similar, conservatives would be shouting from the rooftops. And I’d be agreeing with them. If any Democrat did these things they should be held accountable. Don’t let your partisanship blind you.
Trump’s goose is cooked. I suggest Republicans start figuring out another candidate to get behind.
Of course, I could be wrong. I thought conservatives would see what a raging moron Trump was back in 2016. I later thought they would finally get a clue on January 6th, 2021. And there was a brief period where even conservatives seemed to agree that Trump had gone too far. But the Kool-Aid drinking started again shortly afterwards. So who knows. You’d think the Trump cult members would eventually get a clue, but then again they are cult members, so it remains to be seen. I admittedly have overestimated the intelligence of many Republicans, who can’t seem to stop suckling the Trump teat.
My prediction is that Chris Christie gains momentum. It’s a long shot bet. But as far as I can see, he’s the only adult in the room of terrible Republican candidates. The other obvious choice — DeSantis — needs a personality transplant, as Trump accurately described. His poll numbers were relatively high to begin with, when he was just a faceless alternative to Trump. But the more people see of him, the worse his poll numbers are. But maybe he’ll finally grow a pair and start criticizing Trump now that it’s safer to do so.

ParticipantI hope there’s more to the case than meets the eye, otherwise I agree it’s a bad precedent. I don’t think any President should be above the law, but I am more concerned about his attempts to overturn the election than something like campaign finance. Now I just need you guys to find 11,780 reasons to agree with me.

ParticipantI’m in the Bay Area. I’m in the process of adding a gas line to my BBQ. Ironically, I just added a lot of solar panels (got 82.5 kWh today), but have no interest in an electric grill.
I’m agree some of these things are a bit much. But on the flip side there are some federal, state, and local rebates and tax credits that offset thousands of dollars. But at a minimum I think there should be waivers for low income people who can’t take advantage of the tax credits or pay for electric upgrades to their home. And probably the mandate in general should be scrapped. It should be a carrot and not a stick approach. If the tax credits and rebates aren’t enough to incentivize someone, then it shouldn’t be mandated.
I’m less worried about the grid, though (mentioned in the article) — at least long term when there are many home batteries that can act as a virtual grid from which the utilities can draw from as needed. I think they already have pilot programs going where they are paying homeowners for energy from batteries.
