ParticipantThe banality of evil. Functionaries in our government, pencil pushers with security clearances, feed the press lies rather than correct the press when they invent lies. They cannot be fired, controlled or disciplined by voters. It is the essence of totalitarianism. The insidious evil rests with the Federal Government. The press is just a cog in the machinery.
Comey, Peter Strzok, Schiff, Brennan, et al….there is no internal brake on these people.

Participant23. Hmmm. At least China acknowledges girls.
But we’re not even sure what a woman is because we are awash in infinite genders and other costly and time consuming absurdities. I doubt Xi was fooled about the nature of the 82 year old Womxn in pink who visited Taiwan yesterday and the unserious divided country that sent her.

ParticipantMy wife’s thinking was that Pelosi would never wear pink in such a somber moment.
FYI, 97% of antibiotics we use are manufactured in China. And we laugh at Germany for being dependent on Russian Nat gas. Meanwhile China produces 24% and Taiwan 21% of the world’s semiconductor production. Who has who by the balls?
Xi looks brilliant while the world laughs at JB.

ParticipantI always liked Harry Truman’s definition.
“A recession is when your neighbor loses his job. It’s a depression when you lose yours. Reagan added that it’s a recovery when Jimmy Carter loses his job.”
I don’t know if there is a correct definition of a recession. I do know that we have a malignant financial and political system in place and the people making stupid decisions about our money never pay a price.
I do watch The Big Short once in a while to remind myself of how corrupt we have become. “For every 1%. that unemployment goes up 40,000 people die”

ParticipantHe bought another 2 million shares in the last 3 trading days. There are now about 180 million shares in the Berkshire portfolio and an additional 84 million warrants (in the money at 59.62), plus 10 billion of 8% preferred shares in the BRK.B portfolio. He now owns about 1/3 of OXY. Vanguard owns about 11%. He probably can acquire the rest of OXY at around $80 according to CNBC.
He seems to love that oil patch now. If you own more than 20% of a company you are eligible to get a part of the free cash beyond the dividend. He’s thinking of his shareholders.
I don’t know what he’s up to but I think a lot of sellers must have second thoughts now that he is all in. He’s now got a big piece of Chevron too. Other than Apple, he must think that energy is the best place to be in the market right now and he clearly knows something we don’t. It’s fun to watch him operate and I’m holding.
Edit previous price target. Analysts raising price target today closer to 100.

ParticipantThere’s a reason shampoo bottles come with directions. Biden, AOC and possibly 84 million other people need them.

ParticipantCPI just came out. Inflation at 9.1% matching Biden’s approval rating.

ParticipantWell there you have it. But watch out, “Taco”Jill is mucho vindictive.

ParticipantThat’s pretty interesting.
If Putin becomes the “ruler” I think Biden should grab “Duke of Earl” if Gene Chandler isn’t using it anymore. Nothing can stop the Duke of Earl as he walks through his Dukedom with the Duchess of Earl.

ParticipantTake note Greta, Hollywood, and Prince Charles. This is what the reaction looks like to destructive green policies. They are saying anarchy is a better option than starvation.

Participant“Wonder what changed?”
Good question. The price of oil in June 2007 averaged $187. June this year is $108. By he end of 2015 oil was under $40/bl. We were warned by Trump that Biden would destroy the oil industry and Biden himself confirmed it. So why are gas prices today at $108 higher than they were at $187? It’s the government. Cost push increases, regulations, taxes, fees, cancellation of Keystone, the social cost of greenhouse emissions, eliminating tax benefits for producers, refiners have to buy RINs (Renewable Identification Numbers), and inflation. Refineries are being forced out of business which decreases supply. In 2008 there were about 150 refineries now it’s a little over 100.
It’s the government. Public policy changed. Every American is hurt by this and that’s what they wanted. These fools have painted themselves into a corner.

ParticipantAgree with most of what you say. But Buffett does not play his hand holding a pair of deuces against the backdrop of current energy policy. It just doesn’t make sense. And there are 2 1/2 years left for Biden and Kamala who.
- Biden’s energy advisors want more ethanol. More corn. But no fertilizer.
- They are at war with refineries and want to get rid of them.
- They want a carbon tax on everything starting at $900/ton in 2023 and $1500/ton in 2025. Huge price increases across the board.
Everything suggests less supply and higher prices for energy as a matter of energy policy. Where’s the sweet spot for buying Chevron and Occidental against this backdrop? It also bothers me that Buffett is so close to Gates who, by the way, is buying big tracts of farmland everywhere.

ParticipantHe’ll be back…
He’s been attacking Trump for years going back to Thunderdome with the same language over and over that he’s using here. Narcissist. Semi Psychotic Narcissist. Incredibly repulsive personality. Nativist. Divisive. Unlikable Jackass. Vulgarian…. Now he’s added sedition, treason and conviction, life in prison.. A master of pejoratives he claims people here can be very nasty.
He used to do battle with a guy named Mugsy who was even more arrogant than GR but he disappeared. Mugsy was really fun which is the whole point of these discussions.
GR now claims to see things more clearly than people here and their grasp of reality. That’s really good stuff for any board.

ParticipantYour argument on restraint might resonate had there been no hyper-partisan Russian collusion impeachment, Mueller report, and post Presidency show impeachment. And now a Jan 6 hearing show trial. It’s too bad they didn’t indict to give the public a sense of a serious fair hearing and get the facts on the record for history to decide.
You see, Jan 6 did not occur in a vacuum. The leftists showed no restraint what so ever ever from the moment he was elected. From social media to academia to Congress to the wonton destruction and looting of many cities with full support of many of the hearing committee members.
