Ahhh yes…Section 230 envy. Why should the Post or the Times spend all that money on editors and staff to assure consumers of the accuracy and completeness of their content?  Reduce the overhead!  Particularly as the competition can control political perspective with algorithms and generate “content” for free…if you don’t give a shit about the integrity of that content.

Let the “freelancers” go. After all accuracy doesn’t get considered now-a-days in the awarding of Pulitzers. The business of “journalism” in the 21st century.

A very welcome vignette BD. A history teacher that doesn’t teach pop culture…priceless.

Perhaps your daughter-in-law’s students will have some understanding of our history, our institutions & generational change and focus a little less on current media content.

BD, you got nothing on CA/Sacramento.

The senate has passed a bill, post Uvalde, that ends reporting requirements when students threaten faculty, staff or other students.

“California Bill Wouldn’t Require Teachers to Report Some Student Incidents”

So much for our ineffective Red Flag laws…it’s the guns!
…But you think I should be reading every article and asking myself why it doesn’t mention white supremacy?
Reading your post takes me back to the golden age of our fourth estate. Back in the day, “articles” were more commonly referred to as “stories”.

Just one more example of the prostitution of our language. We get nothing but “stories” these days. And generally they are so outlandish, they aren’t even well crafted fiction. The plots today are sophomoric.

Right you are Dave. Look no further than the headlines on the coverage of Trump’s remarks to the NRA regarding the Texas school shooting.

Is this different than Paul Ryan?  John McCain? Liz Cheney?  It’s all about preaching to the choir and diminishing those you oppose.  Noonan’s language about Trump supporters, losers who are unserious is a classic example

But as Noonen points out, he owns the popular policy positions. His failure now, he’s seeding that ground to everyone, some who are only positioning themselves, selling themselves like a packaged brand name product. Too many have no commitment to the basic policy, to the blocking and tackling. See the Ukraine bail out.

This article sums it up nicely. A 2022 Republican campaign template for success based on narrative.

Not much in the playbook here about the disconnect between economic and foreign policy, see China and the DoJ dismantling the Ip theft regime, energy independence…and Trump is furthering this nonsense with his personal grievance narrative. Our issues are much bigger than that. Can/will Trump pivot to policy?  I have my reservations.  That would diminish him personally and harm the country. We need to make tough choices, fully informed, not make easy choices driven by personal preferences/prejudices.

Thanks. His parents appear as narcissists in the extreme. Abandoning an infant over politics/violence.

Little wonder the kid turned out the same way. A pathology inconsistent with public service?  Yet that’s the type of candidate we seem to advance…much to our detriment. See AOC’s Instagram.

As best as I can tell, this decision changes nothing. It simply suggests that people accountable to voters directly should regulate abortion services not the courts. Makes sense to me.

The talking points in the public square suggest this is political theatre, nothing more.

Our elected representatives are gutless clowns, seeking to avoid responsibility at every opportunity. Do your job.

BD, allow me to add to your confusion. Another element that negatively impacted Q1 GDP is the increase in our trade deficit. Yet Psaki didn’t mention the oil imports attributable to he administration’s energy policies as a “root cause”. (I use that term in deference to Kamala). What’s up with that Jen?

And Mayorkas’ claim that the tripling of illegal immigration on his watch is attributable to the broken immigration system he inherited will give Jen a run for her money in the Baghdad Bob Bull Shit 10K.

Let me assure you three clowns can operate as stupidly as one. Recently three in the fourth circuit decided attempted drug distribution convictions under state law are not useable to meet federal requirements necessary to classify a defendant as a career offender…as fentanyl deaths increase by an order of magnitude annually.

And after Obama’s policy priorities were widely rejected by voters and we got governance by pen and by phone, on balance, I’m not too distressed by slowing that practice.

I haven’t looked to carefully at the technology, but useful for 90% of drivers…you sure?

    -Capital costs

-Political bs.  See negative Tesla narratives arising from Musk’s Twitter tender.  The dopes see the green new deal and speech abridgment as contrary interests?  The left is making their policy objectives mutually exclusive.

-The recharge cycle time makes the vehicles unsuitable for almost all commercial applications.

-unpredictable usage applications are fraught with risk with an electrified vehicle.

-range cut in half, coming and going for typical business day.

And if they are broadly acceptable, one might ask why penetration in rental fleets is only 5%?

I’d settle for absolute transparency re the algorithms used to curtail speech.

I don’t want or need to license “fire” in a crowded theatre. I don’t want bots dominating the public square. But I certainly want to know what’s being abridged, why and by who.

“but I do not like the idea a single judge can turn the entire country on its head.”

I don’t understand your suggestion that the entire country was turned on its head. Everyone can do as they wish. Feel free to wear a mask. Feel free to go massless.

Seems to me the mandate turned the whole country on its head.
