rjnwmillParticipantInteresting to try to imagine the job descriptions that drive each of the content offerings. The overlap in the audiences attracted to each advertisement has to be approaching the null set? Amazing that they are for the same job. Somebody is off the mark, no?

no surprise there. I’m incompetent. It was intended to be a picture of Alfred E.

rjnwmillParticipantWhich of these obvious risks were managed in advance and did that effort result in effective risk mitigation programs?
Of course not. Politics is reduced to the management, or lack there of, of synthetic crises. Voter suppression? Systemic racism? Redefined “infrastructure”? Police malfeasance? Works better for leadership. No problems, no risk of poor performance.

rjnwmillParticipantThe only contribution I can offer.
Works for his Domestic Policy Advisor as well…and his Assistant Health Secretary…and his VP/Immigration Maven…and his HHS Secretary…and his Mayor/Secretary of Transportation…and his Energy Advisor…

rjnwmillParticipant“all this does is provide incentives for companies to keep all the capital on their balance sheets and scale scale scale.”
See the Apple balance sheet. So what do we do with the billions…we lobby; we concentrate power; we give our political stooges a raise; we contribute hundreds of millions to targeted get out the vote efforts to protect our puppets…millions to own the government…billions on our balance sheets?
Good thing the USSC had more important things to focus on. Fair elections is so far down the list.

rjnwmillParticipant“Half all all companies listed this year were Chinese. (18) . 60 more are slated this year.”
I appreciate the information. Trump was prepared to compete and restricted product and capital market access to firms like Huawei.
This administration lowers capital costs for competitors without reciprocal benefits. And the beneficiaries here are private companies; Wall Street not the country.
How much damage can this administration do in four years? Further, it isn’t at all clear to me that there are republicans with the balls to engage as Trump did. I fear they are all hat, no cattle.

rjnwmillParticipant“A group of progressives found her unsuitable as an over-zealous defender of Exxon’s interests so she quit. Not woke enough to represent a company like Exxon.”
I’m not much of a fan of the analogy defense, “look what they did, it’s so much worse”. I mean which pig smells better in the slop?
But that doesn’t mean it can’t be amusing. These “progressives” are offended by the corporate camel entering the SEC Enforcement tent. Not much outrage however when George Gascon packs the Senior management of the LA DA’s office with ex public defenders?

rjnwmillParticipantNo time for financial literacy when students can benefit so significantly from time spent on critical race theory.
It even sounds more “academic”.

rjnwmillParticipantI have no sense for the relative importance to the NBA of the US market vs the Chinese market, but over the last five years it seems that perhaps they’ve turned east?
The league and the marquee players are acting incoherently and doing things that could shrink the reach of their product domestically. It will be interesting to see if this plays out through the leagues media contracts.

rjnwmillParticipantI was unable to link through to the story.
Does it mention the relative frequency of fraudulent transactions on the two platforms; Visa v Bitcoin? I should think Bitcoin as a store of value would be more significantly impacted by fraudulent transactions.

rjnwmillParticipantFrom Pew, “But the consistency with which most poll results differed from those election outcomes is undeniable. Looking at final estimates of the outcome of the 2020 U.S. presidential race, 93% of national polls overstated the Democratic candidate’s support among voters, while nearly as many (88%) did so in 2016.”
They recently published an analysis of their own performance with specific notice of their own sampling problems.
Personally, I don’t put much stock in polling results and specifically any that might suggest Biden is succeeding in office. He is likely seen as a failure with respect to his domestic commitments. His “favorability” may be a point or two above Trumps, but that’s a pretty low bar. Hell, Trump was a Russian agent. Promises on Inauguration Day of “unity”…as civil unrest spreads? (And this will likely get worse with the Floyd verdict.) I think he’s at least ten points underwater with the hardcore partisans. You see “unity” in Minnesota?
And if that wasn’t enough, our global competitors are getting ready to test his mettle/cognitive abilities. And he ain’t the guy for the job. And the fools he’s surrounded himself with, Blinken’s Alaska performance wasn’t so strong, was it? Things will get worse.
Mick, we’re left to hope Kamala has kept her knee pads handy. She’s the only one who might be able to get us a happy ending.
And for what it’s worth, a far smarter guy than I points out the obvious performance problems. About now old saying, “Who am I going to believe; you or my lying eyes?” seems appropriate.
