Probably right TC. They reported today that Nate Silver’s 538 has Biden winning 71% of their unbiased random trials, Trump 29%.

But then you realize Silver spent the entire 2016 cycle with Cankles winning.

I think Fox is polling registered voters? So they too are reporting a Biden lead. Personally I like Rasmussen. But I think polling will be particularly difficult this cycle. I don’t think anyone knows what mail in balloting/ballot harvesting will do to turnout. Particularly with republicans in the unusual position of leadership in voter registration.  And you probably know Democrat partisans are already in court trying to extend the cut off dates for the return of eligible ballots by mail.

I’ll leave you with a thought. I talked with our friend today and was reminded once again why anyone who would vote Biden/Harris or fails to vote Orange is stupid beyond belief. As you know, he has unique insight and presents his thoughts effectively.

    Thanks. Great read.

Walking through an aerosol administration station might be practical for use in school classrooms or outside federal courthouses before the start of peaceful protests?

T.C., you still a Biden supporter?  This is frightful choice. Her judgment on staffing suggest a Biden presidency will be an unmitigated disaster.

I agree with you and Lex; right decision. It is aligned with the NCAA’s core mission; provide student athletes with the opportunity to obtain rigorous acedemic training while enjoying competitive challenges on the field of play.

I bet 99%+ of these kids are looking forward to a semester where their undivided attention can be focused on their classroom work!  Delaying/diminishing the paycheck…a non issue

Lex, after reading Rocky’s response below, it begs the question, how does Biden address this issue in next Thursday’s acceptance speech?  Can he pretend it doesn’t exist?  How might he rationalize his silence to date?

What does he advance as the root cause?  How will he solve the problem in his administration?  I don’t see an easy way out for him.

Totally sarcastic. I just avoided a debt service obligation on $2 trillion bucks…thanks to Nancy’s ability to again kick the Orange One’s tail!  And now she’s put such pressure on the Orange that he’ll be putty in her hands going forward!

And I’m sure our resident lawyer appreciates the strength of her position now!  She and Chuck are left alone on the stage begging for congressional republicans to return to the table to “negotiate”. How long before they tire of that role and slink off, promising to get even…in a galaxy far, far away?  I bet Orange will have many sleepless nights Roscoe!

Lex, “I was just doing my job” or “I was just following orders” as a defense for reprehensible behavior has a history.  It has been rejected where there is direct linkage to great bodily harm to innocents.

It is hard for me to see how the circumstances here are different.  How is this different than the current initiatives to strip liability protections from law enforcement officers.  How is the victim here different from Mr. Floyd?  Do you see the judge and the defense lawyer in this matter as different from the two newbie officers who failed to intervene to prohibit the Floyd death?  How is a decision not to intervene when a crime is being committed worse than a decision to intervene that facilitates subsequent violent crime?

Unless the individual was incarcerated unreasonably, the court had already acted in our behalf and determined that society is best served through detention. Now a lawyer and a judge elect to challenge the appropriateness of that decision. They make that choice fully informed as to the record and the recidivism statistics. (And let’s not lose sight of the fact that the recidivism is in part a measure of the quality of the services purchased in our behalf be politicians. The decision makers here, judges and attorneys both, know they are not dealing effectively with core problems.)

Why should these professional decisions be exempted from accountability?  The consequences are seen to be severe.

Should the perpetrator’s attorneys have personal exposure to civil/criminal action? The judge?

These decisions and the consequences there from are inexcusable. And it’s not unforeseen. Recidivism rates have been studied for years and are well understood. Why do we excuse this conduct by lawyers and judges?

Rocky, my only issue is that you should have made the title highlight the plural. I’d be more comfortable with, “Cuomos are”

Roscoe, I honestly don’t understand your dismissive and cavalier attitude toward the d bag.  It demonstrates a total absence of critical thinking skills.

For your consideration, A high level overview of the 20 year vaccine approval process  Yet we’ll have initial options in 10 months?  Do you appreciate how hard it is to turn a battleship?  A battleship with a crew, part of which seeks your personal failure?

How about the repurposing of military logistics capability to address supply chain issues with PPE, ventilators & emergency room capacity?  What about the introduction of coherent approaches to foreign policy, economic policy & national security?

So you don’t like his style? Your evaluation of performance after living with 25 years of failure demonstrates the very stupidity you decry.

But of course, keep the gratuitous comments coming. They are self revealing.

The use of the term, “dark day” doesn’t mean that it couldn’t have been darker?  You make this point eloquently yourself in your reply.  And this is not a defense for the author.

The fact that our “best alternative” was to elevate the mass killing of civilians to an unprecedented scale, to initiate a 75 year cycle of weapons investment that at best proves to be unused and to necessarily sew mistrust between competitive political systems doesn’t make that “best alternative” an error of judgment.  But it would have been a good day if there was an alternative.

Personally, I unequivocally support Truman’s decision.  Nonetheless I think any opportunity to reflect on the horrors associated with armed conflict is a good thing.  Our values and past experiences should be a continuing focus for thoughtful reflection.

Our experiences in the subsequent 75 years confirm the importance of self reflection…so we can dismiss those who sing “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran, or suggest we need to keep troops in Syria.
